Trevor (m) Predominantly a Welsh name, in usage and
origin, but not uncommon in Scotland since 1950. Trefor
Rendall Davies says, in his Book of Welsh Names, that
Trevor anglicises Trefor, which is Welsh for either ‘great
homestead’ or ‘homestead by the sea.’ It was originally a
placename which became a surname before being trans-
ferred to use as a Christian name.
