Anstruther
Anstruther, in the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland, is where I was raised and educated. Though no longer a thriving fishing port, it is a haven for pleasure craft, and the home of the Scottish Fisheries Museum and the Anstruther Lifeboat. Anstruther is just a few miles from St Andrews, and is an excellent base location for visiting Crail, Pittenweem, Elie, Lower Largo, and all of the Kingdom of Fife.
There are some excellent beaches in the Anstruther area and the quite narrow streets and old buildings give the town a its old fishing port charm. Though now used more by pleasure craft than fishing boats, Anstruther still boasts a thriving harbour scene.
Billowness beach, in the East Nuek of Fife, Scotland, is part of the section of the Fife Coastal Path that runs from Elie to Crail. A nine-hole golf course adjoining the shore at the Billowness welcomes visitors with an invitation to visit the Anstruther Golf Club.
Anstruther marina, filled with yachts keeps the harbour alive as with the downturn in the fishing industry there are fewer of the larger fishing boats berthing in the harbour. Anstruther, Kingdom of Fife, Scotland.
This wonderful East Neuk fishing village in the Kingdom of Fife, just 9 miles South of St Andrews, is where I was raised in Scotland. ( At 24 Rodger Street, Cellardyke ) I have a deep and abiding love of this area, and all of Fife.
