The firm of Gillanders & McLeod, Bagpipe Makers was established in 1926. The company has been based in Edinburgh since 1977 and is headed by Iain McLeod who at one time was Pipe Major of the world famous Edinburgh City Police Pipe Band (leading them to five World Championships) and had acquired a reputation as a world class solo piper. The company is a contractor to HM Government and supplies countless bands and individuals in the UK and with 75% of their production exported.

Pipe Major Alan J Harrison has been playing the Scottish Great Highland bagpipes for nearly 40 years with a number of pipe bands and at many different types of occasion - weddings, birthday parties, ladies nights, Burns nights, ceilidhs etc to TV and radio, orchestral performances, international music and dance festivals and pipe band competitions in Britain and almost every European country. He is a holder of an advanced certificate from the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and has a full teachers certificate for the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society.

Knightswood Pipe Band is a Novice Juvenile pipe band in the Knightswood area of Glasgow which is looking for new members between the ages of 8 to 16, keen to learn the bagpipes or the drums. The Band has a good group of qualified instructors and is also available for engagements and parades.

1st Largs Boys' Brigade Pipe Band hails from North Ayrshire and was founded in 1911 so the pipes and drums share a long tradition within the Company. The band wears the Mackay tartan (modern colours) and has been directed for many years by a former member of World Champion Pipe Band, Muirhead and Sons.

The Lowland and Border Pipers' Society was founded in 1981 by a group of enthusiasts who were interested in reviving the bagpipes of the Scottish Lowlands and Borders.
