Tel: 01333 720326 Kellie Castle is a very fine example of the domestic architecture of Lowland Scotland. The oldest part is believed to date from 1360, but the building in its present form is mainly 16th and early 17th century and was completed about 1606. Sympathetically restored by the Lorimer family around 1878, it contains magnificent plaster ceilings, painted panelling and furniture designed by Sir Robert Lorimer.

Tentsmuir Point, This large area of sand dunes and beach at the mouth of the Tay Estuary forms an important roosting and feeding area for huge gatherings of seaduck, waders and wildfowl. The reserve is also a haul-out area for over 2000 common and grey seals.

Fife Folk Museum, High Street, Ceres, KY15 5NF
Tel: 01334 828180 The Fife Folk Museum invites you to discover the history of everyday rural life in this area. Located in the small historic burgh of Ceres, this collection has been built up over more than thirty years. Generous donations from all over Fife include everything from dolls' prams to farm carts, from mouse-traps to man-traps, from bars of soap to box bed and bicycles.

Charlestown Workshop, Rocks Road Charlestown, Charlestown, KY11 3EN Tel: 01383 872722 In it's heyday, Charlestown produced over one third of the lime in Scotland for use in the building industry. Now, the Scottish Lime Centre Trust provide training and hands-on experience in the use of lime and other environment conscious building materials for building repair at Charlestown Workshops in the former Broomhall Estate Workshops and Yard, restored and converted in 2000. The exhibition on traditional building technology also has a public internet access point.

St Margaret's Cave, Chalmers Street Car Park, Dunfermline, KY12 8DF Tel: 01383 313838 A cave where St Margaret, Queen of Scotland used to pray. At this time (late 11th Century) it was on the banks of the Tower Burn - and is now 86 steps below a car park.

Pittencrieff House Museum, Pittencrieff Park Hunt Place, Dunfermline, KY12 8QG Tel: 01383 313838 A 17th century house which was transformed into a museum by Hugh Lorimer when Andrew Carnegie gave Pittencrieff Park to Dunfermline in 1908. Now three galleries - art (international and local), costumes and displays on the park and house.

Methil Heritage Centre, 272 High Street, Lower Methil, KY8 3EQ Tel: 01333 422100 Methil Heritage Centre is a small local history museum and gallery located in the town of Methil in Fife. The aim of the centre is to explore the social and cultural heritage of the Levenmouth area, a part of Fife which has, over the centuries, been at the heart of the social and industrial development of Scotland.

Inverkeithing Museum, The Friary Queen Street, Inverkeithing, KY11 1LS Tel: 01383 313838 A small local history museum housed in the hospitum of the old friary. Displays on Inverkeithing and Rosyth and Admiral Greig, son of Inverkeithing and father of the Russian navy.

Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum, Moodie Street, Dunfermline, KY12 7PL Tel: 01383 724302 The birthplace and memorial to Andrew Carnegie, the weaver's son who made a fortune from the furnaces of the American Steel industry and who gave his fortune away to benefit humanity.

Hill of Tarvit Mansion House and Garden, Cupar, Cupar, KY15 5PB Tel: 01334 653127 The present house was remodelled in 1906 by Sir Robert Lorimer for Mr F B Sharp to form a suitable setting for his notable collection which includes French, Chippendale-style and vernacular furniture, Dutch paintings and pictures by Raeburn and Ramsay, Flemish tapestries and Chinese porcelain and bronzes. The interior is very much in the Edwardian fashion. The formal gardens to the south were also designed by Lorimer. Restored Edwardian laundry. Path to hilltop panoramic indicator.

Within its walls Abbots and Kings have consulted on affairs of State, while great poets like Henryson and Dunbar have declaimed their latest works. Hardly any aspect of Dunfermline's and Scotland's colourful history has failed to leave its mark.

Tel: 01383 823332 Known as the Iona of the East . The abbey was founded in the 12th century by Alexander 1. The island is also famed for its seals, wildlife and coastal defences from the two world wars. The best-preserved group of monastic buildings in Scotland, founded around 1123, includes a 13th century octagonal chapter house. Ferries from South Queensferry (Tel: 0131 331 4857) takes 30mins.

Scottish Vintage Bus Museum, M90 Commerce Park , Dunfermline, KY12 0SJ Tel: 01383 623380 The Scottish Vintage Bus Museum is located in an ex Royal Navy stores depot at Lathalmond, near Dunfermline, Fife and is open to visitors from 12:30 - 5pm on Sundays from Easter until late September / early October.

Tel: 01383 860519 Built by the Douglas family, the 13th century fortified residence was extended in the 15th, 16th & 17th centuries. The finished result provided accommodation with a gallery and fine painted ceiling. Also delightful walled garden with beehive-shaped doocot.

Tel: 01334 477196 The ruins of the castle of the Archbishops of St Andrews, dating in part from the 13th century. Notable features include 'bottle-dungeon' and mine and counter-mine tunnelled during the siege that followed the murder of Cardinal Beaton in 1546. These siege works are the finest of their kind in Europe.

The Fife Coastal Path is a real walk on the wild side. The first walk of its kind in Scotland, when complete will extend 78 miles starting at the world famous Forth Bridges and finishing beyond the Tay Bridge. Currently the Path stretches from North Queensferry in the west, to Crail in the east.
