Pearl

Pearl (f) This name was given to 32 girls born in
Scotland in 1958. In some cases there may have been a
deliberate link with the name Margaret, which also means
‘pearl.’ Pearl is well known in American literature because
of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel The Scarlet Letter (1850). In this the heroine names her daughter Pearl ‘as being of great price, purchased with all she had, her mother’s only treasure.’
