Tour North Scotland
Northeast
of Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, Fort George dominates
the entrance to the Moray Firth. The Spey Valley runs to the foot
of the Cairngorms, a favorite destination for mountain sports
enthusiasts. From Fort William, at the foot of Ben Nevis, the
'road to the isles' runs west to Mallaig, while the geographical
fault of Glen More ('Great Glen') runs northeast to the world-famous
Loch Ness. Follow the northwest coast, whose impressive relief
attracts walkers, climbers, and photographers. Visit the exotic
gardens of Inverewe. Shiver on the high cliffs and desolate moors
of the Far North coastline. Travel along the east coast with its
attractive coastal resorts and prehistoric sites. Visit the Isle
of Skye, the Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland.
