Maisie
Maisie
(f) Originally a pet form of Margaret. Since
Daisy also came to be used as a nickname for Margaret it is tempting
to see Maisie as a blend of Margaret and Daisy. However, Maisie
was in very early use and its form has probably more to do with
the Gaelic Marsail, ‘Margery.’ Mysie was another form
of the name. As a name in its own right, Maisie has never been
particularly fashionable in any English-speaking country, though
its use increased for a time circa 1925.
