Magnus
Magnus
(m) Latin, ‘great.’ A name associated with the
royal families of Norway and Denmark, imported into
Scotland via Shetland. Only 6 boys born in Scotland in
1958 received this name (though a further 6 received it
in its Gaelic form, Manus). It has probably been more
used in Scotland in the late 1970’s because of the exposure
given to it by the author and television personality, Magnus Magnusson.
