Lot's
Wife

The
Reverend, Mr Monro of Westray, one day preaching on the flight
of Lot from Sodom, said: “The honest man and his family
were ordered out of the town, and charged not to look back; but
the auld witch, Lot’s wife, looked over her shoulder, for
which she was smote into a lump of salt.”
And
he added, with great seriousness, “0h you people of Westray,
if you had her in Westray, mony a day since you would have put
her in the porridge pot.”
