Iris
Iris
(f) To the Greeks Iris was the goddess of rain, the
personification of the ‘rainbow,’ which is the original
meaning of the name. In Britain, Iris was part of the craze for
flower names as Christian names which was most noticeable around
the turn of the century. Scottish parents made the name 84th most
frequently used in 1935, but it is now rarely given.
