Henrietta
Henrietta
(f) The feminine form of Henry which has
never been especially popular in England and Wales. It
has been more popular in Scotland, where it was the 82nd most
frequently used name in 1935. It was still in use in 1958, but
it is now very rarely given. The pet forms Hetty and Etta have
sometimes been used as independent names. Helena Swan, in her
Girls’ Christian Names, also gives Detta as a diminutive
of Henrietta, and Henny is occasionally used.
