Freya
Freya
(f) Freya was the ancient Norse goddess of love.
Her name meant ‘female ruler, mistress,’ and it occurs
also in the forms Freyja, Freja and Froja. The name of the god
Odin’s wife, Frigga, which gave rise to Friday, is not connected.
Freya still occurs in Scotland, having formerly been a traditional
name in Shetland.
