Fochabers
This
attractive 18th Century planned village has a grid layout with
main streets intersecting at a central square. The streets are
lined by Georgian one-and two-storey houses, while the square
is dominated by the elegant porticoed parish church with its stone
spire. The original village known as Bog o'Gight stood in the
policies of Gordon Castle and was demolished by the 4th Duke to
make way for a grandiose mansion which was in turn partially demolished.
Baxters
This
fourth generation family firm produces quality foods, in particular
soups, sauces and jams. Following a 15-minute introductory film
the guided tour of the factory premises gives an insight into
factory methods and ends up in the original grocer's shop of a
hundred years ago.
