Ellen

Ellen (f) An English form of Helen, much used in
Scotland until the early 1950’s, when Elaine became the
more fashionable form. Ellen was 32nd most frequently
used name in Scotland in 1888, 29th in 1935, but 79th in
1958. A count made in 1975 showed no trace of it, but it has since come into use again.
