Visit Edinburgh
This
is a brief description of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland.
It is a beautiful city, open and green, attractively set on a
series of volcanic hills. The city boasts a rich historic past
and two contrasting towns - the Old and New.
A
wealth of interesting sights, rich museum collections and its
prestigious arts festival are but a few reasons to visit this
wonderful city, its perennial vigour renewed now that it is once
again the seat of a Scottish Parliament.
Viewpoints
and vistas
One
of the most attractive features of the central area is the number
of spectacular vistas, which are for ever opening up to delight
the visitor. In addition to the viewpoints afforded by such prominent
landmarks as the Scott and Nelson Monuments, the volcanic hills
also provide ideal vantage points.
Visiting
Edinburgh
It
is best to do so on foot, particularly in the Old Town. On my
small group tours we generally spend a whole day visiting the
Castle, The Royal Mile and Holyrood.
