Corneigh
“A
horn was twisted so as to go round the arm. This being filled
with liquor, was to be applied to the lips,
and drunk off at one draught. If, in withdrawing the arm, any
liquor was left, it discovered itself by rattling in
the windings of the horn. Then the company called out corneigh,
i.e., the horn cries; and the delinquent was
compelled to drink Keltie, that is, to fill up his cup again,
and drink it out, according to the laws of the Kelts, for so
ought the word Celt to be pronounced.
