Beatrice (f) Latin, ‘bringer of happiness.’ As Beatrix
this name was common in Scotland until the nineteenth
century, and was still ranked 95th in 1935.

It was occasionally written as Bettrice, and had the pet forms Bea, Bee, Beatty, Trix and Trixie.
