Chef, Vol. 1

The BBC serves up more than a few chuckles in this engaging sitcom about imperious chef Gareth Blackstock, a stern taskmaster who runs his kitchen with an iron fist, a lightning tongue, and a silver palate. The show combines some of the best elements of episodic drama and zany comedy, generously seasoned with sensual splashes of fine French cuisine.

Absolutely Fabulous - Series 1 to 3 This is not your parents' sitcom. Two middle-aged tarts smoke, swallow, and bed everything in their paranoid paths and are all the more fun for being so unabashedly vulgar. Jennifer Saunders stars as the queen of excess; Joanna Lumley is her promiscuous best friend in this groundbreaking, side-splitting satire. Created by the uninhibited team of Saunders and Dawn French, the series was written by Saunders. This set includes all 18 of the 30-minute episodes from the British TV series; the less-than-thrilling 30-minute midseason special, How to Be Absolutely Fabulous. Anglophiles and anarchists will love this, but consider yourself forewarned--it is strictly adult material.

All Creatures Great & Small - Series 1 Set in the serene beauty of the Yorkshire countryside, this classic follows the true-life adventures of veterinarian James Herriot. Includes all thirteen episodes from the first season.

Doctor Who - City of Death Considered by many to be the best Dr. Who. City of Death was shot on location in Paris, written by Douglas Adams, and even has a cameo by John Cleese! The dialogue is hilarious.

Agatha Christie's Poirot, Vol. 1 Each tape in this attractive boxed set features a one-hour episode of Agatha Christie's Poirot, which originally aired in the U.S. in the early 1990s. Based on stories from Poirot Investigates, all three episodes feature the Belgian sleuth's familiar sidekicks Captain Hastings (Hugh Fraser), Miss Lemon (Pauline Moran), and Chief Inspector Japp (Philip Jackson). David Suchet stars as Hercule Poirot, the dapper detective defined by his carefully waxed mustache and the genius of his "little gray cells."

The Blue Planet - Seas of Life... Extraordinary footage and eloquent narration by David Attenborough highlight the BBC's remarkable wildlife series The Blue Planet: Seas of Life. "Ocean World" begins with astonishing views of a gigantic blue whale--the elusive Holy Grail of undersea photography--and the marvels continue to demonstrate the power, diversity, and profound ecological influence of Earth's oceans.

Told by friends, family members and an assortment of other characters you are led on a bizarre trip through a diminsion of her life which feels real at one moment and a fantasy at the next.

Intimate Universe - The Human Body What an amazing amalgamation of chemicals we humans are! Dr. Robert Winston's visceral exploration of the physical processes of the body is an enlightening, exciting, and sometimes startling testimonial to just how complicated an organism the human animal is. From the graceful opening shot of naked people ages 1 to 100 standing in a row in a forest, to the painful last days of a man dying of cancer, this video will make you regard the human body with an awesome new respect.

Sacrifice at Pearl Harbor

Sacrifice at Pearl Harbor This documentary produced by the BBC offers a revisionist look at the attack on Pearl Harbor, and it raises some tantalizing questions. It makes the incredibly serious and controversial claim that the U.S. government had definitive knowledge of the imminent Japanese attack, yet Franklin D. Roosevelt and other American leaders deliberately sacrificed US lives so they would have an excuse to enter WW II.
