Eilean Donan Castle
Eilean Donan Castle MacRae stronghold dates from 13th century. Ruined by naval bombardment in 1719, rebuilt earlier this century. Causeway, three-arched bridge and gateway with portcullis lead through walls up to 14ft thick. Restored chambers, billeting room and banquet hall with furnishings.
It's a very rare Tour that I don't visit Eilean Donan Castle. Mainly for the spectacular photographs that can be easily obtained from the shoreline. Mind you, as there is so much to see in this area, I will often forego touring the inside of the castle itself. Just depends on the wishes of each group.
